Milton, Ontario – September 29, 2026, Milton Hydro Distribution Inc. (Milton Hydro) has become the first utility in Canada to deploy Spotlite‘s TreeGuard™ satellite and AI-powered vegetation risk platform, in an implementation led by ENDVR Energy. ENDVR Energy is now bringing TreeGuard to utilities and infrastructure owners across Canada.

Designed specifically for utility operations, TreeGuard analyzes network and vegetation data to identify areas of elevated risk, establish performance benchmarks, and provide key performance indicators (KPIs) that support evidence-based decision-making and maximizes the effectiveness of limited operating budgets. Through ENDVR Energy’s deep utility implementation expertise, Milton Hydro was able to rapidly onboard the system and can now begin generating meaningful insights.

“Technology only creates value when it can be put to work quickly,” said Jason Edwards, Vice President, Energy Services and Generation, ENDVR Energy. “By combining Spotlite’s proven platform with ENDVR Energy’s utility expertise, we were able to immediately onboard TreeGuard and will start deliver benchmarking, identify KPIs, and provide actionable insights. Utilities need solutions that fit within existing operations and budgets while providing the information required to make smarter vegetation management decisions.”

TreeGuard integrates with existing utility systems, including ArcGIS-based mapping environments, enabling utilities to incorporate vegetation risk intelligence into established planning, asset management, and operational workflows. This approach minimizes implementation effort while accelerating the delivery of actionable insights and performance metrics.

For Ontario utilities facing increasing pressure to enhance reliability, improve resiliency, and demonstrate prudent spending, TreeGuard offers a scalable approach to vegetation management that supports operational planning, asset management, regulatory reporting, and continuous program improvement.

“Vegetation management remains one of the most effective ways to reduce outage risk and prepare for severe weather events,” said Hassan Syed, Vice President, Distribution Services, Milton Hydro. “TreeGuard will provide our team with enhanced visibility into risk across the distribution system, allowing us to better target vegetation work, measure program performance, and support long-term reliability planning.”

Unlike traditional vegetation management approaches that often rely on cyclical inspections and historical trends, TreeGuard enables utilities to better understand where vegetation poses the greatest risk and focus resources accordingly. The platform integrates with existing utility data and workflows, requiring no field hardware and minimal operational disruption.

“TreeGuard was designed to help utilities optimize traditional cyclical vegetation management with a risk-based approach supported by data and analytics,” said Miguel Cordeiro, Commercial Director, Spotlite. “Instead of treating every section of the network the same, utilities can better understand risk exposure, measure program effectiveness, and direct resources to the areas that need attention most. We’re pleased to see Milton Hydro become the first utility in Canada to deploy the platform.”

The implementation highlights ENDVR Energy’s ability to help utilities in the Canadian energy market to deploy innovative technologies quickly and effectively, turning data into measurable operational value. In an environment with large swings in temperature and strong storm patterns, finding more strategic ways to exercise vegetation management budgets within an Ontario utility will be a welcome upgrade.

“Utilities must deliver reliable service while carefully managing costs for customers,” said Troy Hare, President & CEO, Milton Hydro. “Investments in tools like TreeGuard help ensure decisions are supported by meaningful data, enabling us to allocate resources more effectively, strengthen system resilience, and continuously improve how we manage critical infrastructure across our service territory.”
